Spa feud leaves three shot and injured

A nine-year-old girl was among three females who were shot and injured after their home was firebombed in Caymanas Bay, St Catherine, yesterday.

A 13-year-old girl, who is her sister, and her mom, who is 34, were also injured in the incident which investigators say is linked to a long-standing feud between two rival groups in the community over who should have control of a natural spa.

Rift

This makes the second time in three days violence has erupted in the community in connection with the rift.

The house was reportedly firebombed early yesterday morning in what investigators theorise to be a case of retaliation for Sunday's attack which left 14-year-old Tasheena Salmon, a student of José Marti Technical High School, and her neighbour, Leslie Jones dead.

Tasheena was murdered when gunmen kicked in the door to her family's house and opened fire after also invading Jones' home and killing him.

Cocktail bomb

Yesterday, thugs threw a Molotov cocktail bomb through a window, setting the home on fire.

The family of four occupants tried to escape the flames but they were reportedly fired on by the gunmen who were waiting outside.

Three were shot and injured the fourth person managed to escape unhurt.

The thugs weren't done yet, though.

Further reports are that the men then went to the mineral bath and set fire to the fence which surrounds the premises.

The police say they are aware of the situation and are working towards putting an end to it.
