J-FLAG opposes gay lobby boycott |
|||||
'
The gay lobby is at it again. This week, they launched a boycott of Jamaica and on Wednesday night poured good Jamaica liquor down the drain this week at the Stonewall Inn in New York. However, the local gay lobby J-FLAG has not rushed to support the boycott. In fact, they oppose it, as do the rest of us. The gay lobby that launched the boycott claims that gays are being attacked, killed and beaten and little is being done to stem the number of incidents. In light of the perception - and that is what it is - they are boycotting the land of wood, water, and murder. Yes, that's right, murder. equal-opportunity killers What these gay groups need to do is take their head out of the clouds and recognise that murders in Jamaica are not only affecting gays. Murderers in this country are equal-opportunity killers; they don't care if you're gay or straight, male or female, child or adult. So, what I would say to these people wasting our good liquor and threatening not to visit because they are upset about some of their kind being killed in this country is, take a number and stand in line. exclusive club Do we have a problem in Jamaica with regards to gays being attacked? Sure we do, but gays are not in an exclusive club in this regard. We have a problem with how violent Jamaica has become and if gays are a part of our community then it stands to reason that they are going to be victims too. Given what the reality is, does the gay lobby really believe the police are overly concerned whether the next body they find is that of a gay person or not? I am dead certain that they would be thankful if, indeed, only gay people were being killed; then at least they would have available resources to go after the killers. Over the Easter weekend alone more than 11 people were murdered and the police are still scratching their heads trying to figure out how to nab the perpetrators. Does the gay lobby even think the police care whether those killed were gay or straight? What they do know for certain is that they're dead and that the bodies keep piling up and they have no leads. gay or straight Nobody in their right minds in this country really gives a hoot about who is gay or straight. A handful of people still have issues, yes, but most people don't give a shilling what gays do. There are people who are popular figures in this country who are openly gay and they seem pretty happy to me. And, having said that, I am forced to ask if the lobby is suggesting that gays are not attacked and killed in the United States. If they are being killed, why don't they lobby against those areas too? The thing is this: like most other powerful groups, the gay lobby is basically comprised of bullies who will pick on a little third-world nation like Jamaica and start a boycott in an attempt to force its hand. But, you know what, nobody likes bullies. But they're pouring Red Stripe and Appleton down the drain. Don't they know that Red Stripe has taken a stand against songs that call for violent acts to be committed against gays? And I am sure, the people who produce Appleton or any other Jamaican liquor feel the same way. So what's the point other than to waste perfectly good liquor? Now that is what I call a crime. Jamaica has a crime problem, not just a crime-against-gays problem. But the true picture gets blurred in part by gay Jamaicans who, for selfish reasons, embellish the truth about what the true situation is in Jamaica. They say they fear returning home because their sexual orientation puts them at risk. I laugh whenever I hear that because in reality every Jamaican, gay or straight, is at risk in Jamaica today.
