Burglar remanded for stealing |

WESTERN BUREAU He was granted bail only a week ago for storehouse breaking and larceny, but 30-year-old Devon Reid was unable to keep himself out of trouble. Reid allegedly broke into the office of the University College of the Caribbean in Montego Bay, St James, and stole a component set earlier this month. When Reid appeared before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday he pleaded not guilty to office breaking and larceny and malicious destruction of property. He was ordered remanded until April 30. robbery attempt Reid, who fell asleep during a previous alleged robbery attempt at a financial institution, for which he was first charged, told the court that he did not steal the component set from the school office but said it was on a verandah and he took it. The court heard that on April 4 he broke into the office of the University College of the Caribbean located on East Street, Montego Bay, and stole the component set valued at $20,000 and later damaged it. The police were contacted after a security guard caught Reid in the alleged act. On the previous case, it is alleged that he broke into the storehouse at the C&W Credit Union and removed items valued more than $100,000. He was not arrested until January 23 after he fell asleep during an alleged second larceny attempt at the same place. |
