Young Ninja gets the weekend behind bars

The teenage son of dancehall artiste Desmond 'Ninja Man' Ballentine will spend the weekend behind bars as he is not as yet charged.

The teen is facing charges stemming from the March 17 murder of Ricardo 'Ricky Trooper' Johnson of Mall Road, St Andrew.

Head of the Major Investigations Task Force, Super-intendent Selvin Haye, said the suspect is to face a final interview on Monday and may be charged afterwards.

"He is not yet charged but he is awaiting a final interview ... . Lawyers were unavailable, so he will interviewed on Monday," Supt Haye said.

The teen was picked up in an operation in Breadnut Hill, Ocho Rios, last Saturday. The motor vehicle allegedly used in the killings was also seized during his capture.

Ninja Man has been charged in connection with the incident.

Police say on the day in question, Johnson was sweeping his yard in the company of a friend when a car with two men drove up. An argument developed between one of the men and Johnson's friend. The men left but returned and opened fire hitting Johnson.

Following investigations, Ballentine was charged and his son identified as a suspect.
