A man accused of hitting a woman in the head with a Magnum bottle, said he did it because the complainant's son molested his daughter.

The accused, who is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, appeared before Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

The accused told the court that he was angry because the complainant's son was caught on top of his five-year-old daughter and checks by doctors confirmed that she had been molested. The complainant is the girlfriend of the accused man's uncle.

long standing feud

She, however, told the court that the molestation was not the source of the attack and said there was a long-standing feud within the family. She said the accused destroyed her component set and a fan, in addition to causing the wound to her head. She told the court that she wanted to be compensated for her damaged items as she was planning to move out of the home.

The accused agreed to reimburse her and was granted bail to return to court on April 22 with the money. He will be sentenced then.
