CRIME-FREE ROAD MARCH

Though there were not any major reported incidents during yesterday's Bacchanal Jamaica Carnival Road March, the St Andrew Central police said there were few reports of car break-ins.

Checks by THE STAR with the Half-Way Tree police found that at least four persons had reported that their vehicles were broken into while they watched the festivities.

Things such as cellphones, money and other items were said to have been removed from the vehicles.

Vibrant costumes

Yesterday's parade, dubbed 'Bacchanal Gone Hollywood', featured nine vibrant costumes which all rendered the theme.

Group names such as Troy, Stardust, Pocahontas and Vegas Guys & Dolls helped to depict the Hollywood theme.

The carnival band departed from Mona in St Andrew about 10 a.m. and continued, with revellers in train all day long through the streets of Kingston before ending at the Mas Camp Village on Oxford Road, also in St Andrew.
