Court case leads to suicide |

Investigators from St Elizabeth are probing reports that a man from the parish killed himself because he had a case before the courts. Sixty-six-year-old Alpheous Smith of Elderslie in the parish died at the Black River Hospital on Thursday, one week after he was rushed there, reportedly for drinking Gramaxone. Assault charges The police say he was scheduled to appear in court last Thursday on assault charges. According to reports, Smith was at home last week and threatened to kill himself, after which he was said to be found foaming from the mouth. He was taken to hospital where it was discovered that he had ingested the harmful substance. |
