Olympic 200m champion Veronica Campbell-Brown is eagerly awaiting the start of her 2009 season.

According to the athlete, things are going as planned, and she expects to officially begin the season at the Jamaica International Invitational meet in early May.

"My training is right on schedule and I am eagerly looking forward to the start of my season, which appears more and more will be at the Jamaica International Invita-tional in Kingston on May 2," wrote Campbell-Brown in the latest edition of her International Associ-ation of Athletics Federations (IAAF) diary.

"Time has really flown since coach (Lance) Brauman and I started a few months ago and I can't wait to get on the track and see how the things we have been working on translate into making me run even faster," she added.

Last season she suffered only two defeats, split between the 100m and 200m sprints, both coming in Kingston. Campbell-Brown suffered her first defeat in the 200m at the Jamaica Invit-ational before losing the 100m at the National Championships.

The sprinter, however, recovered to win the 200m at the National Championships before going on to destroy the field in the event at the Olympic Games in Beijing.

In Beijing, Campbell-Brown ran a personal best 21.74 to repeat her Athens Olympics 200m victory over American Allyson Felix.

"After the meet in Kingston, which I expect to be exciting as usual, it will be off to the West Coast for the Adidas Classic on May 16," said Campbell-Brown. "I am training really hard and very focused on what I have to do," the World Championship, 100m defending champion added.
