It was a night filled with Wata, Wata, and more Wata ... as the much anticipated Wata Party was held.

Revellers packed into the 1B Oxford Road venue for the fourth staging of the Wata Party, an annual event, held on the penultimate day of the 2009 carnival season.

Dressed to get wet, all the fancy hairstyles that are customary at regular parties, were missing, as patrons (especially the females) were seen sporting shorts and flip-flops.

Patrons were kept jumping, waving and screaming as the party intensified with Skinny Fabulous taking the stage. It was as if a hurricane was passing over, as the water flooded the venue.

Fabulous was well received, as he immediately interacted with the 'massives' inside the venue.

His movements onstage earned him huge forwards - as if not enough, the artiste, came off stage and climbed onto the rails directly infront of the stage, showing off his acrobatic ability, by skilfully balancing on the two beams, performing to good effect.

giveaways

Two patrons, Kacia Foster and Tina-Jo Tucker, were invited onstage by Fabulous, and on his command, they 'bubbled' for a basket of goodies to the delight of the patrons. In the end it was Foster who came out on top.

Between performances, there were giveaways from the event sponsors, Wysynco and Digicel. This only added to the excitement of water-soaked bodies - some patrons opting to find plastic bags to protect their electronic gadgets.

As the emcee for the night asked for the lights to be turned off, declaring it was wining time, music from different Caribbean territories blasted, but it was the now infamous 'daggering' songs, that generated the most response.

With the energy level now turned up, it was Kurt Riley who took control of the turntables.

tremendous

The 'Party Animal' started his set with a dub from Tarrus Riley, before launching into the catalogues of Garnett Silk and Dennis Brown.

One of the event's promoters, Andrew Bellamy, was overwhelmed by the support.

"I don't know what to say, this is the largest turnout we have had in our four years of staging this event," he said.

The Wata Party in its entirety was a success and already patrons are looking forward to next year's event.

"Tonight was just crazy, the music, the vibe, the whole atmosphere was just tremendous,. I'm already looking forward to the fifth staging," said Olivena Holness a patron.

These patrons were all soaking wet, as they danced the night away.

This couple could not get enough of the water. Here they appear to be anticipating some more.

She was happy to be in the middle of things, showing off her moves.
