Illegal firearm seized, three in custody

Three men are now in police custody following the seizure of an illegal firearm at Stanton Road, Morant Bay, St Thomas on Saturday.

Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.

Reports from the CCN's liaison officer for St Thomas are that about 1:30 p.m., members of the Island Special Constabulary Force were carrying out operations in the town of Morant Bay when three men were seen walking along Stanton Road.

The men where stopped and searched and the weapon, a Beretta semi-automatic pistol, serial number B95514, with eight rounds of ammunition was found in a pouch one of the men was carrying.

They were subsequently taken into custody.
