A man, who had reportedly shot his girlfriend and left her for dead, is believed to have killed himself after learning that she had survived the attack.

The August Town police said the woman was shot in the Goldsmith Villa area of the community about 12:45 a.m. on Saturday. It is alleged that the now deceased man, whose identity is being withheld, went into the area with a handgun and shot the woman in the head, before fleeing.

THE STAR was told that the man, upon hearing that the woman was still alive, shot and killed himself in the Stand Pipe community where he lived.

The Papine police are investigating.
