Silvero Castro, chairman of G.C. Foster College, is the new president of the Inter-Collegiate Sport Association (InterCol). He took over the reins from Norris Davis. Castro was elected president at the association's annual general meeting which was held on Friday, April 17, at the G.C. Foster College's board room. The other members of the newly elected executive are: Ventley Brown - first vice -resident; John Messam - second vice-president; Anthony Davis - general secretary, and Gracelyn Crawford - treasurer Eleven members of the 20-member organisation of colleges and universities attended the annual general meeting. They are Brown's Town Community College, Church Teachers' College, College of Arts Science and Education, G.C. Foster College, Knox College, Mico University College, Moneague Teachers' College, Montego Bay Community College, Shortwood Teachers' College, University of Technology, Jamaica, and the University of the West Indies. First vice-president of the outgoing executive, Everard Owens, acting in the capacity of chairman due to the illness and absence of then president Norris Davis, presided over the meeting. He congratulated the outgoing president on his efforts and accomplishments. Competition reports were presented by the respective chairmen: Dudley Powell - football, George Henry - cricket, and Alf Remikie - basketball. Owens announced that InterCol's new offices would now be located on the University of Technology campus. |
