The organisers of the monthly LOL Comedy Show, OMIT Entertainment, have cancelled the April 29 staging of the LOL Comedy Show as a mark of respect to retiring stand-up comic, Owen Blakka Ellis, who has his final stand-up engagement on the same date at Backyaad, Constant Spring Road.

The series resumes on May 27, 2009. The LOL Show, which showcases some of Jamaica's and the Caribbean region's finest stand-up acts, as well as a special musical guest on the last Wednesday of each month, at Heather's Garden Restaurant on Haining Road in Kingston, is rapidly establishing itself as the venue for comedy.

Since its inception last year, the LOL Comedy Show has hosted comedians like Owen 'Blakka' Ellis, Joan-Andrea Hutchinson, Raga-shanti, Dr Michael Abrahams, Pretty Boy Floyd, Ity and Fancy Cat, 'Johnny' Daley, Rohan Gunter, Lecturer and Elva, as well as singers such as Lovindeer, Lt Stitchie, Tanto Metro and Devonte and General Trees.

Promoters are promising some interesting new twists and a slew of popular faces when the series resumes on the last Wednesday in May.
