Name: Rochelle Robb Class: One Event: High jump Personal best: 1.65 metres Main contender: Kerrima Blake School: Alpha Academy Convent of Mercy At the recently staged GraceKennedy/ISSA Boys and Girls' Athletic Championships, this dedicated young lady was able to fight against all the odds and copped the gold medal in the class one high jump. Describing Champs as OK, Rochelle Robb said that she has represented the school for the past five years in the long and high jump events but this was her first gold medal in the high jump event. Mentioning that training is very difficult, especially since she does not enjoy running and weight training, she describes her coach, Lorna Vernon, as very good. "The programme is hard since I don't like lifting and I don't like to run ... . You just have to endure it because in the end you will get the feedback," she said. At present in lower sixth, Robb is doing communication studies, law, sociology and history, with the latter being her favourite. jovial and friendly Admitting that sometimes her school assignments "catch up" on her, she said that proper time management is key in ensuring that she copes with school and athletics. The teen told THE STAR she wants to become a journalist or a judge. Robb, who described herself as determined, outspoken, jovial and friendly, enjoys any movie that combines the themes sports and passion. As a result the sixth-former's favourite movies are Love and Basketball and Remembering the Titans. A lover of rock and alternative music, Robb's favourite bands are All-American Rejects, Plain White Tees and Green Day.
