Bog Walk police investigate shooting death

The Bog Walk police in St Catherine North have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man who was on Monday hit from his bicycle then shot several times while he was lying on the ground along Main Street in the community.

Twenty-nine-year-old Mercelyn Johnson, otherwise called 'Packer' of Pineapple Lane in the area, was reportedly riding a bicycle along Main Street with a family member around 12:40 p.m. when he was hit off the cycle by a blue Toyota Corolla motor car.

While Johnson was lying on the roadway, a man alighted from the vehicle and shot him several times. He died on the spot. The family member was not hurt. The police were summoned, the crime scene processed and the body removed to the morgue for post-mortem.
