More interrogation for Jamaican hijacker

Stephen Fray, the 21-year-old man at the centre of Sunday's hijacking incident on a CanJet Airlines aircraft at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James, is to undergo further interrogation by local police.

Karl Angell, spokesman for the Jamaica Constabulary Force, said Fray underwent questioning on Monday and yesterday. He is not yet charged.

"He was further interviewed today and is still in police custody. He is to be questioned again today and he is not yet charged," Angell told THE STAR yesterday.

Reports are that about 10:20 p.m. on Sunday night, Fray forced his way through security checkpoints at the airport and boarded CanJet Flight 918 destined for Halifax, Canada (a chartered flight), with a scheduled stop in Santa Clara, Cuba.

He reportedly held members of the crew hostage, shortly after releasing the 160 passengers on board. No one was hurt and the aircraft was not damaged in the incident. All crew members were freed sometime after 6 a.m. on Monday when police invaded the aircraft and held Fray.
