Dead man was wanted - police |

The St Andrew North police are reporting that a man who was fatally shot last Saturday has positively been identified as the man wanted for the January 2008 murder of Scotiabank employee Noel Gibson. Police identified that man as 35-year-old Andrew Buchanan, also known as 'Andrew Black' and 'Andrew Bull'. Buchanan was from Grants Pen, St Andrew. A police source from the division told THE STAR that 5 a.m. last Saturday, the lawmen heard shots being fired in the Grants Pen area and went to investigate. They said they went to a premises and knocked on the door. Pointed firearm Buchanan, the police say, opened the door and pointed a firearm at two plain-clothes policeman who were standing outside. Reports continued that the policemen then opened fire, hitting him. The man was pronounced dead at hospital. A .40 calibre 9mm semi-automatic pistol was taken from Buchanan, police say. He was reportedly on bail for another murder at the time of his death. The Constant Spring police said that Gibson, who was employed as a loan officer with Scotiabank, was killed in January in the Grants Pen community. He had reportedly went there to collect rent from occupant(s) who lived on a property that belonged to his parents when he was shot. |
