Santa Cruz Three policemen from the St Elizabeth Police Division who were charged with breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act had their $500,000 bail extended when they appeared in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. Constables Glenroy Riley and Dwight Peters and Corporal Kenroy Elliott, who worked at the Black River Police Station, are booked to return to court on May 7. The court was told that on July 10 last year Riley approached the complainant and persuaded him to hand over money after telling him that he is wanted for questioning by Kingfish and that he could clear his name if he supplied over $100,000. The complainant consented to pay over the money and a report was made. A sting operation was set up where Peters was held collecting more than $60,000 and Riley was picked up that same day at the Nain police area near Alpart. Following further investigations Corporal Elliott was also picked up. He was later charged with perverting the course of justice. |
