David Thellwell, 27, who is facing a murder charge in the St James Circuit Court, found himself in deeper trouble as he was implicated in the March 3 murders of four persons and the injuring of three others at a bar opening in Glendevon, St James. Thellwell, from Glendevon, appeared before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday and was remanded for investigations into claims of an alibi that placed him nowhere near the location of the incident. He returns to court on May 6. Attorney-at-law Morrel Beckford, who also represents Thellwell in the Circuit Court, said his alibi includes a policeman, and said the investigating officer should have made efforts to confirm this before the matter came before the court. Thellwell was charged after witnesses, who claimed to know him well, fingered him as one of four men who attacked and killed disc jockey Peter 'Funo' Williams, 34, Oniel 'Moses' Black, 19, Adrian 'Condom' Winter and a mentally ill man known only as 'Kevon'. Allegations are that four gunmen showed up at the bar opening about 1:25 a.m. and sprayed bullets at the patrons. Witnesses, the court heard, said Thellwell told his cronies "mek sure unno gi dem pure head lick cause mi nu come yah fi kill no woman tonight". The armed men allegedly fled after carrying out their attack. |
