Police increase presence in Maverly

The St Andrew South police have increased their presence in Maverly, St Andrew, following Tuesday night's drive-by shooting incident which left five men shot and injured.

One of the men succumbed to his injuries at hospital yesterday.

He has been identified as 29-year-old Glendon Wilson of Clarion Road in the community

According to police reports, sometime before 9 p.m., the men were among a group of persons standing at a bar in the community when a motor car drove up and its occupants opened fire. The five men were hit and taken to hospital

One man remains in hospital in serious condition, while the other three are listed as stable.

Police sources say for some time now sections of the community are known to erupt in violence as rival gangs clash.
