A priest who reportedly created a scene at the Norman Manley International Airport was taken before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. Charged with disorderly conduct, using indecent language and resisting arrest is Michael Brown. The court heard that on April 23, Brown was at the airport talking loudly and behaving in a boisterous manner. It is alleged that when he was spoken to by the police, he used expletives at them and later resisted arrest. not guilty Brown, who was dressed in full ceremonial gear, including a headdress, told the court that he was a priest and was also trained by Homeland Security in the United States. He pleaded not guilty to the allegations and proceeded to ask Resident Magistrate Sonia Bertram-Linton whether he could have a trial later in the day. He also asked if he could leave a statement with her explaining what exactly had happened. When that failed, he went on to complain about the charges against him, saying they were a breach of his human rights. Brown bail was extended. He is to be tried on May 21. |
