The much-anticipated clash between veteran selector Ricky Trooper and Alliance selector Boom Boom, at Rendezvous, held at Temple Hall, St Andrew, on Saturday night, failed to materialise. "A joke dis. Di big bad world champion nuh turn up... A whe im deh?" asked a very militant Boom Boom in reference to Ricky Trooper's absence. major boost As patrons grew impatient in the extremely chilly conditions, the five-year-old show was in need of a major boost. Veteran selector Wizzla did just that, the deejay boldly stepped up to the plate. Armed with specially arranged dubplates for Boom Boom, as well as Rolex and DJ Q from Ghetto Bomb, declared: "Well a shooting time now, all who say Boom Boom fi dead say shoot." A huge uproar came when Wizzla released dubs from Buju's Boom Bye Bye and Shabba Ranks' Luv _ Bad and he finished well with a few Mavado tunes. Boom Boom responded sharply and the packed venue had its first major forward. It was for Bounty Killer's We Nuh Fren. Although the show was dominated by Alliance members, Rolex used little effort to set the place alive with a number of dubplates coming from Vybz Kartel and the Portmore Empire crew. Many viewed the showdown as a draw but one patron, Sabrina, said she was most impressed by Boom Boom. "The clash... I don't see it as a tie because he (Boom Boom) did really well for me," she said. The show closed with Bounty Killer and Mavado performing in the early hours of the morning. According to one female patro: "The show was good I am not Alliance nor Gaza but I enjoyed myself."
