ACP Kameka case set for Thursday

The case of the three men charged with the murder of Assistant Commissioner of Police Gilbert Kameka has been set for mention on Thursday.

Last week Monday, the trial was put off until yesterday because of insufficient jurors. A large number of jurors turned up yesterday in the Home Circuit court to try the case.

awaiting documents

The defence lawyers in the case, however, said the trial could not start yesterday because they were waiting on some documents from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. The lawyers said that now that they have the documents they would have to get further instructions from their clients.

Justice Donald McIntosh remanded the men until Thursday, when another trial date will be set.

The accused are 26-year-old Missinissa Adams of Industry Village, 18-year-old Kemar Dawson of Standpipe, and 21-year-old Rohan Townsend of Irish Town, all in St Andrew. Kameka, 48, was shot dead in Irish Town, in November 2007 during an alleged robbery.
