A goal from Phillip Riley in the 83rd minute handed Cavalier a 1-0 victory. - Peta-Gaye Clachar There are no more unbeaten teams in the 2008-09 Claro/KSAFA Super League. With two rounds remaining, leaders August Town picked up their first loss of the season when they were clipped 1-0 by Cavalier last Saturday. It was a thrilling affair as both teams got numerous goalscoring opportunities but were denied by excellent goalkeeping. As the skies opened and the teams were drenched with a heavy downpour, they soaked up the pressure and mounted several more attacks. The visitors were the ones to prevail and were rewarded seven minutes from full time through a Philip Riley strike. Both teams are now locked at the top of the 12-team table on 43 points. However, August Town have a superior goal difference. August Town will next face Duhaney Park at Baldwin Crescent while Cavalier will tackle Constant Spring at the Constant Spring Field on Saturday, May 2. Santos came away 2-0 winners over Police Nationals at the Bell/Chung Stadium. Goals from Fabian Nethersole and Shyan Evans in the 20th and 40th minutes, respectively, were enough to turn back the security men. Santos remain in third place, three points behind the leaders, while Police Nationals have traded places with Liguanea United to sit at rock bottom with 12 points. Santos will face Real Mona in their next encounter on Saturday. Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) were held to a 2-2 scoreline when they went up against Constant Spring. Robert Taylor opened the scoring in the 53rd minute while Robert Levy added another in the 62nd minute. The soldiers found a lifeline in the 71st minute, thanks to Cecil Sturridge and two minutes from time Robert Wright found the equaliser. JDF occupy fourth place with 35 points while Constant Spring are two places below with 28 points. The encounter between Bull Bay and Duhaney Park ended in a 0-0 stalemate. Bull Bay remains in fifth with 29 points and Duhaney Park are ninth with 21 points. Liguanea United seemed to have found the winning formula, racking up two back-to-back victories. The latest victory came against Real Mona who suffered a 2-1 defeat. Kevin Campbell slammed in a goal in the second minute to set the stage for his team while Everton Mattis followed suit in the 72nd minute. Real Mona's consolation came in the 89th minute courtesy of Jair Gooden. Real Mona have accumulated 28 points and are in seventh place while Liguanea who are still facing relegation moved up one place to occupy 11th spot with 13 points. Mountain View United who are also trying to stave off relegation encountered a major setback. Leading Maverley/Hughenden 1-0 through an Andre Palmer 42nd-minute goal, Mountain View were left heartbroken when their opponents equalised on the stroke of full time, thanks to Fabian Swaby. Maverley/Hughenden are in eighth position on 25 points while Mountain View are still not safe, as they are in 10th place with 13 points. The Claro/KSAFA Super League continues on Saturday, May 2, with a full slate of matches. Rae Town extend lead League leaders Rae Town clipped Barbican 1-0 to extend their advantage atop the Claro/KSAFA Major League. The lone goal came from Donovan Beckford in the 77th minute. Third-place Brown's Town were held to a 1-1 scoreline by Olympic Gardens while Cooreville Gardens defeated Seaview Gardens 3-0. Andrae Bernal and Oshane Smith were the scorers for Cooreville Gardens with Bernal netting a brace in the eighth and 41st minutes.
