Cookshop operator on murder rap |

BARBARA GAYLE, Staff Reporter A St Mary man who shouted "you talk seh you breed mi gal, breed dis" and then shot 25-year-old Damion Green, of Annotto Bay, eight times, was yesterday convicted of murder. Negarth Williams, cookshop operator of Annotto Bay, will be sentenced in the Home Circuit Court next week Friday. The Crown represented by Opal Smith, acting deputy director of public prosecutions, led evidence before Justice Lloyd Hibbert and the jury that on September 30, 2003, Williams took a gun from his brother and fatally shot Green. witness testified Evidence was also led that there were accusations that the deceased got the accused's girlfriend pregnant and was boasting about it. A witness testified that on the day of the incident, he and his brother, along with Green went to look for a man who had assaulted a female relative. He said when they went near the accused man's cookshop they saw the man they were looking for and other men were also there. The accused came out of his cookshop and began saying "peace, peace". Williams took a gun from his brother and went towards Green. Williams while firing several shots at Green said, "you a talk seh you breed mi gal. Breed dis." In his defence, Williams denied firing shots at Green. The jury retired for almost an hour and found Williams guilty. |
