Good Samaritans' case gets new date |

The trial of the three men charged with the murder of the couple dubbed 'the good Samaritans' was on Friday put off to May 15 for mention in the Home Circuit Court. Another mention date was set because the defence lawyers said they sent certain documents abroad for analysis and have not yet received them. double murder George Cooper, Andre Ennis and Shane Brown, labourers of Kingston addresses, are charged with the double murder. Taiwo McKenzie and Jhanel Whyte were kidnapped in November 2007 when they went to a location in Havendale, St Andrew, to give medical supplies to an injured man. medical supplies McKenzie was allegedly driving a motor car when it collided with a motorcycle on which two men were travelling. Arrangements were subsequently made for the couple to take medical supplies to one of the men who was injured during the accident. It is being alleged that, after McKenzie and Whyte went to the premises where the injured man was, they were kidnapped. A demand was made for a ransom of US$100,000(J$7 million). When the demand was not met, they were murdered. The bodies, with the throats slashed, were discovered in Mount Salus district, Red Hills, St Andrew, on November 8, 2007. |
