Baugh to lead Melbourne at Twenty20 tourney

KINGSTON, Jamaica (CMC):

Fringe West Indies wicket-keeper/batsman Carlton Baugh will captain Jamaica's reigning limited-overs champions, Melbourne, to the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) Twenty20 Club Champions tournament starting later this week in Trinidad.

Baugh will lead a unit that includes two other players with West Indies experience, Nikita Miller and Donovan Pagon.

They open their campaign against defending champions PowerGen, of Trinidad and Tobago, in a Group A fixture on Friday night at Guaracara Park. Group A has Dominica as the third team.

West Indies fast-bowling legend and long-time club stalwart Courtney Walsh is coach of the Melbourne team for the 10-day tournament that carries a winning prize of US$100,000.

T&T's Wanderers and Clarke Road and Antigua are in Group B, Group C has local sides Merryboys and Preysal and Demerara (Guyana), and Group D comprises Barbadian club Maple and the T&T sides Queen's Park CC and Invaders.
