Man dies in police shoot-out |

|
One of three men who reportedly engaged the police in a shoot-out in Southborough on Wednesday night, was fatally shot and a firearm taken from him. Dead is Dane Daley, 19, of 7 West, Greater Portmore. Reports from the Constabulary Communi-cation Network liaison officer for St Catherine South are that sometime after 10 p.m., the police were on patrol in the South Borough community when three men were seen acting suspiciously. On the approach of the lawmen, the men pulled guns, opened fire and ran. During a running gun battle, Daley was hit. A 9mm Browning pistol with a magazine containing two 9mm cartridges was taken from him. The other men escaped in the area. Daley was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Bureau of Special Investigations has commenced a probe. |
