Players from Portmore, the Corporate and rural areas will vie for top honours in the Presto's Last Man Standing eight-ball pool tournament, the seventh ranking tournament of the season, today and tomorrow at Mystix Sports Bar, 78 3/4 Hagley Park Road, starting at 2 p.m. each day. Among the top-ranked players expected to compete are Portmore's Sunil 'Termite' Kissendal, winner of the Kingston Beer singles title last December; MoBay's Noel 'Schoolboy' Blagrove, Roy Letts and Hot Shots' Ewart Hall, currently the top-rated player in the island by virtue of winning three ranking tournaments so far this year. The tournament, which is open to A and B class players and is being sponsored by Sunrite, offers a first prize of $50,000 and trophy, second $20,000 and trophy, third $10,000 and fourth $6,000. Players finishing from fifth to eighth place will receive $3,000, while $5,000 will go to the top female player. Entry fee is $2,000, re-entry $1,500. Associate sponsors are Century Wrecking Services, Fencing Associates Limited, Pakjam Motors, WSL, Doc Holliday Sports Bar and Newman Sweets. -O.C. |
