GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer Many Christians can confess that at some stage in their walk with God they have disappointed Him, or have failed Him. Well, one who is not afraid to publicly state he is guilty of this is Pastor William Henry, who has been saved for 31 years and who has been in the pastorate for more than 17 years. He said he has failed God many times in his Christian life, explaining that like Thomas in the Bible he has doubted God, which is a failure on the part of any born-again Christian believer. weaknesses Henry noted that sometimes things happen and he becomes doubtful but when he sees how God works out things, especially those which seem difficult to him, he becomes ashamed before God. Doubting God, he said, is one of his weaknesses as a Christian despite him regarding himself as a strong Christian believer. "I regard myself as a strong Christian but, because we as Christians can see so far and no further, sometimes there are uncertainties and things like those, and sometimes things happen which cause you to wonder about them. However, God has always remained faithful and true," said the church leader. He said he has come to acknowledge there is nothing too difficult for Christ to work out for human beings but Christians must realise the life they live for the Lord will always be faced with challenges. Henry added that at times things happen in the life of Christians, causing them to consider how such things are going to be worked out. Such things, he said, can cause an element of doubt to creep in, despite the fact that they are aware that God is able. his Christian journey The pastor is reminding Christians that it does not matter how strong they might be in Christ. If they take their minds off God they are likely to fall but, like David in the Bible, who fell in his Christian journey, he did not remain down but got up back for the Lord. "It is possible that one will fall but the important thing is for one to recognise that he has fallen, to see him or herself and arise, and God will give the Grace to do it and to continue," testified Pastor Henry. Henry, who is the pastor for the Moravia Pentecostal Church of God in Clarendon, explained to THE STAR that he got saved at the age of 15. His walk with God started when he attended an open-air service. "I went to an open air service when I heard the Gospel of salvation;and I accepted and believe in Jesus Christ and accepted Him as my Lord and Saviour," said Henry. He confessed that he was a regular student at Sunday school and was never involved in anything illegal, making it easy for him to accept Christ as his Saviour and acknowledged that the earlier part of his walk with Christ was not difficult for him, despite persons giving him time to turn back from the way of the Lord. "When you were not so much involved in the 'world' you do not have so many problems serving Christ. Although a lot of my friends and older folks used to tell me that I was too young and that I was not going to make it as a Christian, I have proven them wrong," said Pastor Henry.
