Second place went to Sanique Brown, Miss Payless Distributors, while Kara Fong, wearing the sash Swift Money Transfer, placed third. Young Baldie, sashed by Palisados Co-operative Credit Union, said she was always confident of victory. "I was very confident, I did my best, I know I was going to win, I felt it," Baldie said excitedly. She dedicated her win to the two precious ladies in her life, her mother, Michelle Doeman, and her aunt, Nahemia Doeman. The sectional awards were shared between a few contestants. Natasia Robinson got for Most Polite, there was a tie between Davesha Miller and Vanessa Ellis for Most Improved, Knajwa Mair got the awards for Most Talented and Most Punctual, while Chelsee Johnson got for Most Cooperative. Amanda Jo Anderson was picked by her fellow contestants as the Most Congenial. Kara Fong shared the Most Disciplined and Most Intelligent awards with Raymona Davis. Meanwhile, a charitable presentation was given to Lorna Moncreiff of Windsor School of Special Education, located in Greater Portmore. The Mini Miss Portmore 2009 is a talent and intelligence competition staged by Promotional Links Industries aimed at entertaining the entire family in the form of a pageant. The contestants are between the ages 7-11 and showcase their talents, answer questions and vie for sectional prizes and a main prize. Through participation in this pageant the contestants are trained in poise, etiquette, voice and speech. They also engage in the performing arts in an effort to build the girls' self-confidence and stage presentation. |
