Cops kill two men in shoot-out

Two men were killed in an alleged shoot-out with the police in the Maxfield Avenue area yesterday.

They have since been identified as Devon Steer, 26, and Tafari Taylor, 17, both of Lincoln Road addresses, Kingston 12.

Superintendent Hugh Bish of the Denham Town police said that the incident took place around 11:15 a.m. while the police were on operation in the area. Reports are that on reaching 76 Maxfield Avenue, a group of gunmen opened fire on the police team. The fire was returned and two of the men were hit during the exchange of bullets.

They were rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital where they were pronounced dead. A 357 magnum firearm with serial number F012278, two live rounds and four spent shells were recovered from one of the men.
