A 44-year-old ex-soldier was shot dead by unknown assailants at his home at Chovey Housing Scheme, Port Morant, St Thomas, yesterday.

Dead is Oniel Thompson.

Police told THE STAR that about 2 a.m., residents heard explosions and called the police. Investigators who visited the area found Thompson's bullet-riddled body. The scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue.

Up to late yesterday, the Port Morant police who are investigating had not established a motive for the killing, neither had they identified any suspects.
