Dedicating our child to God |

GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer
It was a proud moment for parents Juleen Hussett and Walden Allen, who brought their daughter D'Janae Allen to the Sharon Baptist Church in Santa Cruz to be blessed by Reverend Jacob Powell recently. It was even more special because it is not often that both parents are present at the dedication of their baby, seeing that most times the fathers are absent. However, a proud Walden Allen told THE STAR that he had to be present to give the mother of his child all the necessary support, as a sign that the two will ensure that they take equal responsibility in seeing that their daughter is brought up in the right way. a beautiful experience Hussett admitted that motherhood is wonderful, though it has its challenges. As for Allen, fatherhood, according to him, is a beautiful experience. "The experience of conception and to see her come into the world and strive is wonderful," he said proudly. He pointed out that unlike several fathers who never witnessed any of their children being christened, he made it his point of duty to see D'Janae dedicated to God because it is important that fathers are there to show that mothers get the needed support to assist in the development of their offspring. Hussett noted that she felt good having Allen beside her at the christening of their daughter and admitted that he has supported her well from D'Janae was conceived and that it was fitting that the father was around for the dedication of the little baby girl. challenges "Well, some men consider christening as being simple. Something as simple as this and he is here, then I can feel guaranteed that when other challenges come up and other events for which he is needed, he will be there," the young mother said. She noted that it is important that children be dedicated to God, as the Creator should be the centre of everybody's life. Hussett added that just as how it is important that parents instil attitudes and values in their children, it is imperative that they are led in the way of the Lord from a tender age. This was underscored by a proud and satisfied Allen. The two, who are from Burnt Ground in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, vowed to have D'Janae brought up in the church as best as possible. D'Janae was born at the Black River Hospital on November 3, 2008. She weighed 7 lb (3.18 kgs) at the time of delivery. |
