Live! From the Oscars

1. What's so funny? 2. Lovely smiles to go with their pretty outfits. 3. How colourful!

The Oscars Guestlist on Saturday night at the New Kingston Golf Academy could have been the perfect party but it lacked patrons.

There were beautiful women at the entrance and, as part of the 'Mardi Gras' theme, each patron was given a mask and beads as they walked on to the red carpet. There was also the option of getting one's picture taken in front the 'Oscars Guestlist' backdrop.

From there, the aroma of food greeted patrons. There was shrimp, chicken, pork, pasta, curry goat, pastry and fruits.

After walking a little further, there was a big bar with professional bartenders. There were bistro tables, luxury cars on display, an elevated DJ booth, a VIP area and a spacious dance floor complete with disco lights.

good music

If that was not enough, there was good music from ZJ Liquid, Sparkles Disco and a young DJ called Shotta.

Despite the venue being only half-packed, it was not short of energy. In the early segment, there were alternative songs, like Pink's So What and Katie Perry's Hot And Cold. There was also a touch of lovers' rock with songs like Ras Penco's Thousand Miles Away, Tarrus Riley's She's Royal and Jah Cure's Call On Me, which was pulled up a few times.

Early '90s songs from artistes like Buju Banton, Beenie Man, Capleton, Baby Cham, Bounty Killer and Snow also filled the air.

Afterwards, there was some 'bubbling', 'Beyoncé wine', 'stookie', 'dip again' and 'backing up'.

The energy intensified with Mavado's Neva Believe Yuh, which had couples acting as if they were in their bedrooms. Chino's Ruff It Up got big forwards when it followed.

The sensuality reached a different level with Pamputtae's Good Good and a string of Vybz Kartel girls songs like Virginity, Come Breed Me, Get Wild and Yuh A Mi Baby.

Left: Enjoying a moment. Right: Patrons having a good time on the dance floor.

Left: These three were looking extremely hot. Right: Couples working up a sweat.
