Child abuser faces time

A woman in her early twenties appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday for hitting her baby until she was bruised.

The accused pleaded guilty to child abuse. It is alleged that the accused beat her two-year-old daughter with a belt until she became bruised.

The accused woman stated that she hit the child with the belt because she was frustrated.

Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey ordered a social enquiry on Green before sentencing. The accused should return to court on July 27.
