Wayne Watson searches for siblings

Wayne Watson

After years of being raised by members of his extended family, 32-year-old Wayne Watson is determined to find the family he never knew.

Watson was born on December 24, 1976, at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital to Jenita Williams. He lived with his mother in the Tivoli Gardens area until 1982 when she died from cancer and he was sent to live with an aunt in St Elizabeth. That arrangement wasn't for long, however, and he was soon living in Coleyville, Manchester, with his maternal grandmother.

Watson was just six years old when his mother died, so he does not remember much about her. What he knows, however, is that she gave birth to two other children before him. This he learnt when he received a copy of his birth certificate in 2008. During his childhood, he was never made aware of any siblings. He was also told that his father, whose name he does not know, worked with the Public Works Department before he died in an accident.

Though may years have passed, Watson told THE STAR that there is a big void in his life. "This has been a strain to my life. I can't move on. I just want to put it to rest."

The gardener and part-time farmer wants desperately to be reconnected with the children his mother had and with anyone that might be related to his father. He told THE STAR that his aunts have been unable to tell him much about these mysterious siblings, as they know nothing of them.

Watson's mother, was 31-years-old at the time of his birth and resided at a Denham Town address.

He told THE STAR he has given himself a three-year deadline to find his relatives and this expires next year. While he would love to find them, he said he cannot allow the search to continue taking over his life the way it has.

"I just want to find out if I have brothers or sisters. I am not begging anything. I just want to be able to move on with my life and get to know my family. I want to be able to settle down."

Anyone with any information that might help Watson, may call him at 428-4260.
