Popular dancer Overmars has split from Ravers Clavers to form his own group Above A Dem. Overmars told THE WEEKEND STAR that he left Ravers Clavers in April. He started Above A Dem with other dancers like Mundo, Peanut, Pelpa, Yummy and Dollar Coin, all formerly of the Ravers Clavers group. "Me and Ding Dong did build Ravers but I break away so I can help other young youths; get myself da way deh out there," he said. "I don't dance with Ravers anymore. It might sound frightening but a real thing," he added. In addition, he said he left the group because he was being overshadowed by Ding Dong. "Mi create Nuh Linga (dance) and mi neva get da glory deh 'cause everybody put it round Ravers and Ding. Mi haffi do something to get myself out there the way I am supposed to," Overmars told THE WEEKEND STAR. individual creations He continued, "Mi seh Nuh Linga and him (Ding Dong) tek di credit for it and (him) not saying that it's not his dance." Overmars also promises that he will give the members of Above A Dem credit for the their individual creations. THE WEEKEND STAR tried to contact Ding Dong yesterday, but another member of Ravers Clavers, Pencil Man, said he was in Cayman. Nonetheless, Pencil Man spoke on behalf of Ravers Clavers. "Di feud really start from Nuh Linga. Mars is the creator but a Ding buss the dance. Ding been telling people that is Overmars create the dance but Overmars was not in the street promoting it and when it get big, him waan tek all a di glory," Pencil Man told THE WEEKEND STAR. He also said Ravers Clavers has always been somewhat divided as there were some members who preferred Ding Dong while others preferred Overmars. However, this was not evident to outsiders because when they performed, it was one Ravers army. In addition, Pencil Man said Overmars is 'bad mind' and cannot be trusted because he switched from Ravers Clavers, which made him popular. "From yuh switch from the group, yuh can switch anytime inna life. Overmars leave Ravers Clavers because him don't waan be under Ding Dong. Him don't waan know seh Ding is the man," Pencil Man said. Despite this, Pencil Man said Ravers Clavers will continue to be successful. "We don't feel no way bout Overmars leaving the group. The group even more focused now," Pencil Man said while noting that the group's summer dance move is 'Skip To My Loo'. But since leaving Ravers Clavers, Overmars says he has been getting more individual recognition, as opposed to previously when credit was usually given to the group. He recently created the Nuh Behaviour dance move, which he says has been getting quite popular. "Anytime we go inna di lab, it work enuh. Mi create, mi nuh imitate. People a support me a hundred per cent," Overmars said.
