Power of Faith on top

Power of Faith Senior hoisted the Dr Delford Davis trophy for excellence recently at a presentation of awards ceremony at the headquarters of Power of Faith Ministries, Portmore Town Centre.

Power of Faith did not win a major individual award, but proved their strong team spirit allowed them to be successful.

Meanwhile, the major awards were shared among most teams in the league.

Miracle Open Bible's Thomas Howell copped the leading batsman award, tallying 95 runs with a top score of 41. Courtney Bogle of Old Harbour New Testament got the award for most runs in a game after smashing 70 not out in a preliminary round game against Jamaica Evangelistic Centre.

Kenneth Isaacs of Faith Temple New Testament, with a beautiful spell of bowling with 6-12 from four overs in a semi-final game against Braeton New Testament, took most wickets in a game. Isaacs is also the leading wicket taker in the league, with 10 wickets from three matches at an average of 4.8. Everton Richards of Braeton New Testament snatched the best wicketkeeper award.

Brandon Henry of Braeton New Testament won the best under 16 player award after snaring five wickets for the season. This was his church's third major award of the evening.

At the function, Bishop Dr Delford Davis, founder and head clergyman of Power of Faith Ministries, praised the organisers of the league for fuelling the fire to the competition. Chief co-ordinator of the league, Mark Williamson, reiterated the competition's aim which is to save souls for the Kingdom of Heaven, and thanked all who supported the competition.
