Nestlé hosts cricket camp |

Nestlé Jamaica Limited, through their Milo brand, recently hosted a successful cricket camp at the Ken's Wildflower sports ground on Saturday. Jimmy Adams, technical director at the Jamaica Cricket Association, was one of the main contributors at the $125,000 Milo-sponsored Portmore Under-15 cricket clinic. Adams spoke to the youngsters and gave his blessing to the clinic. He assisted in crafting the schedule of activities for the clinic which will be spearheaded by head coach Hugh Hinds, along with Renford Pinnock Sr, Robert Samuels and others. Hugh Hinds, the coordinator of the clinic, said the main objectives are to reinforce the basic skills in cricket and to identify new talents and strengthen the existing ones. on-field activities The over 80 cricketers, age 10-15, were engaged in on-field activities such as batting, bowling, fielding and wicketkeeping. Additionally, they received theory sessions which focused on areas such as ways of getting out, deportment on and off the field and discipline on and off the field. Several national representatives have come out of the league, including Mickel Francis U-15 and U-17; Vander Rowe U-15 and U-17; Delbert Gayle - U-15 MVP; Raymore Senior - Jamaica and West Indies U-15; and Amaja Morris U-15 and U-19. Over 30 cricketers from the league have been called to national trials since its inception. A smiling Kenneth Dodd gave out bats after the players which showed the best promise in the skills of the game received special awards. |
