Barcode promoter Ibrahim Konteh cuts the anniversary cake.

Party Promoter Ibrahim Konteh wanted to keep something special for his one-year-old Barcode party. It became a reality on Saturday night and he got the support of a lifetime.

Even though there were other parties slated for that night, Barcode, which was held at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, St Andrew, held its own and exceeded all expectations.

The party was an all-inclusive celebration and Konteh wanted to show his gratitude to the patrons who have given him support over the past year.

energetic vibe

As soon as patrons entered the packed venue, the energetic vibe greeted them. The dances were captivating and were complemented by music provided by Coppershot in the early goings. By the look of things, the females, who teased and pleased their male counterparts, were having a blast and gave the men everything they could want at a party.

Police personnel made numerous trips around the venue to ensure things were right. But one officer in particular couldn't help but join in on the fun. Though it was a brief stint, the jubilant corporal held on to a woman, whose waist seemed to rotate 360 degrees to the beat of Beenie Man's Wine Gyal, and spun her around, much to the amusement of some.

Patrons were already dancing at maximum pace when DJ Rush from Code Red took over at the turntables. He signalled his entry with hits ranging from the early '90s and then paid a tribute to the late pop icon Michael Jackson, with hits such as Thriller and Beat It.

Just before the party climaxed, Konteh, along with representatives from sponsors Old Spice, shared a moment in celebration and cut a cake in recognition of the anniversary.

"It has been wonderful. This just gives me more encouragement for the next Barcode," said Konteh, who is also the president of JEM Productions.

The non-stop energy definitely got the better of this couple at Barcode, which was held at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre.

Could this be the bar code?
