A 26-year-old bar operator of a Mandeville address was arrested by the Mandeville police for breaches of the Child Care and Protection Act after her 22-month-old child was found wandering along the road in the centre of the town on Friday. According to police reports about 8 a.m. on Friday, the baby was seen walking along the road in a messy and unkempt condition. The police was called and the baby was rushed to the Mandeville Regional Hospital. The infant's mother went to the hospital and reported to the police there that the baby was missing. She was arrested and charged for exposing a child to danger and neglecting a child. Powell reportedly claimed she was in the bathroom when the baby strayed. She was granted bail to attend court today. The accused who has two other children was reported to the Child Development Agency (CDA) which promptly placed the infant in
protective custody. |
