It was not the police that brought a premature end to Rum Punch, but storm-like rain at Sandy Beach, Port Royal, on Sunday night. On two occasions, before 11 p.m., it rained, but it was bearable. So while some patrons shivered under tents, others danced in the drizzle. The last time it rained, however, the rain was so powerful that everyone ran to the tents shivering, as the storm breeze made the venue extremely cold. The waves smashed on to the shore and were almost frightening. To make matters worse, most of the women were skimpily clad in beachwear. hasty retreat All the stage equipment had to be covered very quickly, only minutes after the covers were removed because of the previous showers. As soon as the rain eased, some patrons ran like thieves in the night to the exit. Selectors also made a hasty retreat and encouraged patrons to do likewise. During the first set of showers, Vegas' I am Blessed was most appropriate. The patrons danced provocatively to Mavado's High Under. There was also a little rave segment with songs like Lady GaGa's Poker Face and some disco from the '80s. There was also a short tribute to Michael Jackson with songs such as Billy Jean. There were also hip-hop songs like Jamie Foxx's Blame It while the patrons 'popped champagne'. The venue was packed and the bars equally crowded. There were several entertainers present, like Bugle, Raine Seville, D'Angel, Timberlee and Pamputtae. All the patrons had cups of liquor in their hands, capitalising on the money they had spent to go to the super-inclusive party. The selectors included Kurt Riley, Bambino, Renaissance and Coppershot. However, it was the wittiness of Tony Matterhorn, who had not been billed for the event, that brought some laughter and hype to the daylong party. While he played the daggering songs, he excited the women, who let loose and gyrated on the sand to songs like Bragga's Dagga Dat and Vybz Kartel's Come Breed Me.
