A woman in her early 20s appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday for hitting her baby until the child was bruised.

The accused woman, Patrice Green, was charged with child abuse and pleaded guilty to the charge.

It is alleged that the accused woman beat her two-year-old daughter with a belt inflicting wounds on the child.

The accused woman stated that she hit the child with a belt because she was frustrated.

Resident Magistrate \Judith Pusey ordered a social enquiry on Green before sentencing. The accused should return to court on July 27.
