An Extatic last party |

Dwayne McLeod, Staff Reporter
All good things must come to an end, and so has Extatic Fridays. The final party in the series was 'hot' in more ways than one. When THE STAR team arrived at the party after midnight, ravers were already crammed into the Cuddy'z Sports Bar in New Kingston. They partied the night away despite the almost unbearable heat inside the venue. Miami-based selectors Black Chiney called for a cool-down after having patrons work up a sweat to a mix of dancehall and reggae tunes. Jah Cure and Phylissia's Call On Me was a hit with the ecstatic crowd and had to be replayed three times. "In ya hot, man, mek wi cool down a little," the selector said before spinning some R&B selections. dark spots No device was necessary when Soulja Boy's Kiss Me Through The Phone was being played, as sweaty patrons used dark spots inside the venue to their advantage and got really close. Even when no music was being played, couples could be seen wining, grinding and kissing while sweat ran down their faces. And as the party went on, the hotter the venue got, and many were trying to cool themselves down with party flyers, some (male patrons) taking their shirts off, while many exited the venue at regular intervals to catch a breath of fresh air. crowd in a frenzy The triple team of DJ Kristuff from Renaissance Disco, Black Chiney and DJ Karyzma had the crowd in a frenzy, igniting 'forwards' for every song. Vybz Kartel's Come Breed Me and Virginity turned the ladies into a mass choir, while Elephant Man's Sweep instructed the men to dance like "wi foot a broom". As THE STAR team left the venue about 4 a.m., a very 'fluffy' Shauna-Kay Miller, who was seen 'daggerin' earlier, summarised the vibe of the party when she said, "Di party mad!" |
