Last year's beaten finalist Ken's Wildflower, started their 2009 campaign in the Milo-sponsored Portmore Metropolitan Under-15 Cricket League on a winning note, impressively chasing down 173-8 made by Hamilton Gardens, closing at 174-4, with five balls to spare at the Ken's Wildflower sports ground on Sunday. Scores: Hamilton Gardens 173-8, Rae Roberts 64 not out, Omarley Buchanan 35; Jameel Bryan 2-33, Sadaqie Henry 2-39. Ken's Wildflower 174-4, Lawrence Beckford, 69, Omari Williams 34 not out. At Waterford High School grounds, Cumberland beat Washington CC by five wickets. Scores: Washington CC 55 all out, Andrew Bennett 4-12, Jermaine Hibbert 3-22, Cumberland 55-5, Andrew Bennett 34; Kemani Westcar 4-17. Defending champions Colours International are yet to face a ball in the competition after their match against Portsmouth was called off due to no water at their home venue, in Bridgeport. The teams are playing for the Dr Cummings Cup. |
