Jealousy killings |
|||||
After reading through yesterday's article in THE STAR about the man who killed his bartender girlfriend before committing suicide, we are led to ask, why do people think violence is the solution to our problems? The story said the deceased had a relationship of some sort and what ultimately led to the tragedy was that the man heard rumours that he was nothing but a man on the side being used for money. According to the story, he learned about his 'lowly position' after he had borrowed $50,000 from his employer to assist the now deceased woman. However, in all of this, his decision to kill her has not brought the money back. The striking thing about the story was that it stated that this was the second incident of that nature in Manchester. Another bartender was stabbed to death by her boyfriend in August after information allegedly suggested that she might have been unfaithful. After all this, we urge people to avoid being tangled in rumours of infidelity; we could really do without any more killings in this land. And a note to the men, especially those with light hands, killing a woman is not the answer. There are more civil ways to deal with situations: talk it out, or, in the event that there is no hope, leave if you have to. And leave the woman in one piece. |
