WESTERN BUREAU: Despite some entertaining and energy-filled performances from the Bounty Killer-led Alliance, many patrons at the Negril Summer Heat show early Sunday, left disappointed after the police brought the party to an end at 2 a.m. The police turned up at exactly 2 a.m. when members of the Alliance, including Bounty Killer and Mavado, were performing before a riled-up crowd. However, this would be shortlived, as patrons moved towards the exit, many quarrelling, after the performers walked off the stage. blame Some patrons blamed the promoters and organisers of the event for starting the performances less than two hours before the specified shut-off time. "How dem fi a bring on di killa five minutes before 2 o'clock and a him mi come fi si?" one patron asked. "A idiot ting dem do." It was after lengthy juggling sessions, until 12:44 a.m., that the first artiste, Ras Slick out of Negril, hit the stage and gave a good start to that segment with witty rhymes. At this stage the show ground appeared scanty and the VIP section remained empty. However, when Wayne Marshall hit the stage at 1:20 a.m. the VIP patrons drew closer to the stage. He performed hits such as Astronaut and I Forgot Them, among other hits, before calling on Future Fambo who gave his demonstration of the drunken dance. Other Alliance members including Flex and Einstein proved their worth as they had fans screaming. However, the highlight of the show was when the gully god Mavado walked on stage during their performance and immediately exploded into action with his recent hit, A Dem Alone. With hits to spare, he had to be warding off frantic female fans who attempted to pull him off the stage, as he delivered tracks like High Unda, We Shall Overcome and Inna di Car Back. Less than 10 minutes before 2 a.m., the 'Warlord', Bounty Killer, decked in full black, joined Mavado on stage. However, he did not have a long stay as the police entered the venue on time to enforce the 2 a.m shut down. Patrons, though disappointed in the abrupt end, enjoyed the show while it lasted. Other performances for the night included Tony Matterhorn, Fire Lion, Tweety, Kelly G and Mickey Ranks.
