Jamaica to host international energy seminar

On July 22, Jamaica will play host to the international energy seminar 'The New Energy Agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean - Global Perspective and Regional Context'.

The seminar is being organised by the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica, an agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mining, in collaboration with the Regional Association of Oil and Natural Gas Companies in Latin America and the Caribbean (ARPEL), and will be hosted at the Jamaica Pegasus in Kingston.

Its primary objectives are to 1) analyse the challenges of the new energy agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean, 2) promote dialogue and interchange of visions on the topic and 3) make participants aware of the importance of the topic and the need to look for consensus to facilitate the region's progress under the framework of an energy agenda.

Approximately 150 executives and professionals of energy companies, government delegates, and professionals working in international institutions, financial institutions, universities, and non-governmental organisations are expected to participate.

The activities will continue on Thursday, July 23 with a chairman's meeting and Friday, July 24 with ARPEL's general assembly at the Ritz-Carlton in Montego Bay
