High expectations for Yush Negril Weekend |

This past May, the promoters of the long-running Yush parties transformed the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston into a mega-nightclub. It featured stylish décor, a laser-light show and, of course, some of Jamaica's top disc jocks playing an eclectic mix of modern hits remixed on rhythms from the 1990s and the converse. Come August 7, the Fantastic Mega Yush, as the party was called in May, will be called the Fantastic Mega Beach Party Yush, and is set for Margaritaville, Negril. "Since May, we have totally revolutionised the execution, the look and the feel of the event," declared promoter Phillip 'PP' Palmer. "The only thing that has remained the same is the vibe - no long talking, strictly dancing. Yush is fuelled by a '90s vibe. It's the only party on the weekend that has a strong '90s vibe." juggling showdown Yush promoters joined forces with Red Stripe in the move to Negril because the beer company was more aligned to what they wanted for the Dream Weekend. "It's about putting together a package to brand Jamaica," Palmer revealed. The hype surrounding this party will be the juggling showdown. Dubbed the East versus West juggling showdown, the contest will feature a couple of the best sound systems and some of the nation's top disc jockeys whose skills have become legendary. "Two of the best sound systems - Code Red and Coppershot - will go up against DJ Liquid, who was formerly known as Lippo when he was at Irie FM and who will be teaming with Master Wayne," Palmer said. (Both jocks are from Montego Bay). "It is not a clash but a show of who can create the best vibe at the party." |
